New tattoo by Thomas Hooper

Posted in Uncategorized on September 30, 2009 by juliojuliojulio

Thomas Hooper is such an amazing tattoo artist and I was lucky enough to get tattooed by him on Monday. He made a start to this tattoo around my hip and it hurt like hell on the belly. Eventually it will all be shaded with some wispy clouds at the top with a negative space moon and a couple of ravens. And I’m getting a similar wolf on the other side. I’m gonna look like a bloody zoo if I don’t stop soon!

Better start saving for flights to New York to get this finished as Thomas upped sticks to live with his lovely wife a while back and now works at New York Adorned. Check out Thomas’ blog here

Carhartt BMX jam

Posted in Uncategorized on September 29, 2009 by juliojuliojulio

I went along to the Carhartt BMX jam at the weekend. There was an alleycat on at the same time as part of the Bicycle Film Festival but I decided I’d rather go to the jam as there were gonna be some amazing riders in town.

It was pretty mental; in the end about 200 guys turned up with me Grace and Sam being the only females in attendance. We started off at Wandsworth roundabout and wound our way through town to the Barbican. There was some really good riding to check out plus we got to see some new sports which we definitely want to go back and session. We stopped off in an estate somewhere near Battersea and the little kids watching just couldnt believe what they were seeing. They were particularly taken with Taliban Tom who they called ‘The Hippy’ and it was cute seeing how excited they got. Quote of the day from the nippers had to be ‘Trust me, the hippy’s got skills – the hippy rocks!’

Fucked myself up good and proper

Posted in Uncategorized on September 17, 2009 by juliojuliojulio

Got a perforated eardrum, six stitches in my chin, an infected wound up my shin and I’m limping because I cut my foot and it won’t heal. Didnt particularly enjoy bleeding out of my ear; its somewhat alarming! Feeling pretty bummed out right now and the great British lack of sunshine isnt doing me any favours.

After stitching and a night in hospital:

Bicycle Film Festival London / Riding on my scraper bike

Posted in Uncategorized on September 13, 2009 by juliojuliojulio

The Bicycle Film Festival is coming to London. There will be a BMX jam, polo, parties and films taking place between the 23rd and the 27th.

I’m gonna be leading a ride from East London to West on Friday so if you’re from out of town come along and see some of the city. And come if you’re from London coz I bet you live East and never leave. Like me.

Posy and I are throwing the party on Saturday night at Jamboree in conjunction with Carhartt and a beer sponsor who’s name I have forgotten. DUR. Flier and directions to come.

Make sure you check out the Urban Bike Shorts – I saw them in Zurich and they were ace. Check out the scraper bikes vid for a preview of one of the films. The scraper bike movie was Barnie Raps’s favourite – just ask him next time you see him!

My new bike and Eurotrip pt 2

Posted in Uncategorized on September 9, 2009 by juliojuliojulio

I know its a bit stupid that I have two blogs, but there you go, thats the way it is. So I wound up writing about the second part of my Euro trip on my Charge Bikes blog here if you’re interested!

I got this new bike yesterday. Immediately shinned myself and also quite fancied sitting down on the way home but I couldn’t! Haha! Great for bouncing about doing little bunny hops and stuff. Gotta take it down to the new skatepark in Mile End too! Might put a brake on it too;  I have hardly any sole left already.

Paris trip…

Posted in Uncategorized on September 4, 2009 by juliojuliojulio

I had a meeting in Paris on Wednesday about something dead exciting which I am not allowed to reveal just yet. So I randomly decided to go to Paris the day before to get some riding in and just to hang out I guess. So I went on a whim and without actually really knowing anyone there. Let me just say, life would be a lot duller without facebook!

When I turned up Nicolas was there to meet me as he’d been kind enough to offer me a place to stay! How nice is that? And things were good from start to finish. After the torrential rain stopped we rode off in the sunshine and popped into Cyclope before meeting Luis. We messed about in a nice square trying a few tricks and drinking a beer then rode down to the Seine. ACE!

That evening Nicolas had arranged for a few people to meet us at a square to go for a ride around Paris. It was SO nice! Seriously I can’t tell you how amazing it was to be riding around the streets of such a beautiful city with such a cool bunch of people.

We went on a mellow tour of the city before tackling the tough hill up to Montmartre which got the better of me at the last minute. After that we rode down the hill and sat by a canal drinking beer and eating junk food. I met two of the coolest girls I’ve met in a long time – Laura and Shiro. You girls rock! Come to London soon! Check Laura’s blog here – girl is baddass.

I met a ton of nice people from all over the world, it was awesome. Wei took some super nice pictures. Go check them out here. He’s dead good. Check this one of Shiro!

On Wednesday we went for amazing Japanese food  on rue St Anne and later had a picnic in Les Jardins des Tuileries before going to check out a DC party. Amazingly I managed to sniff out free booze within 24 hours of being in a new city! YEAH!

On Thursday I had the best lunch ever before heading off to catch a train to Basel. The TGV only takse three and a half hours and you can take your bike on without dismantling it if you book it on in advance and pay 10 euro. But when they say book in advance,  I did it when I bought my ticket which was about half and hour before hand. And so I rode of to Switzerland, pretty gutted to leave  Paris I must say but excited about the next part of my trip.

Thanks so much to Luis and Nicolas – these guys: Check Luis’s blog here for another pic coz he is cool and better at taking pics than me. Rock’n'rollin Fixie Riders blog is ace too so got check that here dude
