My piece in The Ride Journal

Posted in Uncategorized on March 19, 2012 by juliojuliojulio

Wow, it’s been ages since I posted anything. I have been SO busy, writing, shooting, doing a billion things.

Last Autumn, I wrote a piece for The Ride Journal which was just recently published. I was really pleased to be asked to contribute as I’ve always enjoyed reading the magazine and always thought the writing was top notch. So I hope my holds it’s own.

You can grab a copy of The Ride Journal here, or at your local bike shop. I thoroughly recommend it!

Cities Fit For Cycling

Posted in Uncategorized on February 5, 2012 by juliojuliojulio

It’s really awful how many times cyclists and HGVs collide in London, and remains deeply upsetting every time I see another catastrophe has occurred. It’s frighteningly often.

The Times has set up a campaign for greater cycle safety including an eight point manifesto of ways to help improve city riding. Its great to see a campaign which highlights the need of sensors on trucks entering the city centre and a need for mandatory cycle awareness training when you take your driving test. All too often I’m disappointed when I find out that people are simply campaigning for more cycle lanes which I really dont think is the answer….

Anyway, take a moment to check it out here

Ride hard

Posted in Uncategorized on February 2, 2012 by juliojuliojulio

Okay, so I haven’t posted on here for a while but it doesn’t mean I haven’t been riding….

I work as a courier so I’ve been out on my fast bike putting in the miles. Quite how I managed to get my sprocket in this state, I’m not sure!

Apart from that, I’ve been eating a lot of cake, hanging out with my new kitten, Fenriz and working hard on setting up my new magazine which is gonna be KILLER! Official news on that coming soon!

PORC dirt jumps at Penshurst

Posted in Uncategorized on January 5, 2012 by juliojuliojulio

I stayed in on New Years Eve so I could get up early to go ride trails, hangover free.

I was definitely not completely untainted by the demon booze the next day but i did haul my ass out of bed at 8am to go to PORC.

It was so fun there – just Dave and myself and a wee kiddie whose mum worked in the caff. There were all different sizes of jumps, a sick looking downhill course and 4cross track set over 42 acres. The jumps seemed well built and drained well though they were slightly rocky in parts. It was only a fiver to ride everything, which i think is a bargain.

Unfortunately, after a great start, Dave crashed BIG TIME and snapped his scaphoid. So no pics of riding I’m afraid and a grumpy Dave for the next two months ; )

The lady who ran the caff gave bandages, tea, paractamol and a ride back to the train station. What a lovely lady! Thank you so much!

I got a couple of pics of the fella on the way back.

The Reason mag Oregon trip article

Posted in Uncategorized on November 26, 2011 by juliojuliojulio

Back in January I was lucky enough to go to Oregon for an article for The Reason magazine with an awesome bunch of people. I had such a great time! Grab a copy of the mag from your local snowboard shop – it’s my favourite snowboard mag and well worth checking out. Plus, it’s completely free.

Here’s my shot from the piece – a rock fakie on a wall ride:
