Evening Standard ‘Style Riders’ article

Well I’m not sure who has been feeding this journalist porkie pies, but have you EVER seen anyone riding without handlebars? Apart from unicyclists?

It must be that “Zen-like” “one-ness” that enables the fixed gear hipster to steer purely through an emotive connection with their headset: willing the unattached steerer tube to rotate while simultaneously stopping the forks from dropping out of the frame must be the fixie equivalent of Nirvana.

    And I bet skidding with no handlebars is a bitch…

    dude! i totally got the weight down on my track bike by removing the ‘bars. i also removed the wheels, stem, and crankset and the thing weighed less than 5 lbs!

  5. Guy probably meant chopping down bars.
    People can be pretty ill-informed. I once had somebody ask me what my handlebars were made out of when what they meant was the bar tape.
    My handlebars are made of cotton.
