Fixed Mag 4 Launch

I went down to London Fields for the launch of the new issue of Fixed Mag on Saturday and grabbed myself a couple of copies.

Ian had a new tattoo:

It was a pretty chilled affair as Ian had literally only just finished the mag and is off to Eurobike. So not enough time to organise a big party. But we didn’t need one! It was nice to check out the mag, relax in the park and see our friends. There was a treasurecat but I didn’t do it as I was feeling sick.

I’ve been ill for over a week now and it’s so SHIT. Alright, so I had a couple of cans of cider the other day but I have been so good, staying in etc and its been mega boring. Haven’t even really been able to ride. This next week should be fun though -  gonna ride in Paris tomorrow, then catch a train over to Basel on Thursday to visit Carharrt and mess about there. Friday I’m gonna head over to Lausanne and see if I can get make an appointment with Felipe Leu as the only way to get one is to go there in person! And after that I’m gonna head to Germany to Eurobike to meet up with the SHop 14 gang and the guys from Charge. Should be a lot more fun than this week!

Anyway, the mag looks good as usual. Inside are articles on on New Zealand, Redbull ‘Eye In The Sky’, Paris, The Revival and the Nike CTRS trip from London to Paris. There’s this piece on me and Posy too!

This K cider is really good!

Since going freelance I have been very busy indeed! Mainly partying, sleeping and getting ill. Actually, I’m having a couple of weeks relaxing before it all kicks off next week with lots of exciting stuff.

Anyway, I was invited over to my friend Steve’s house today so that we could work together andI thought I would bring him some lunch. After much futile wandering around Morrison’s I gave up as I couldnt decide what to buy but when I rode past the China Store in Dalston I was reinspired; maybe I have been reading the Shop14 noodle posts foo frequently… Anyway I popped in to pick up some ‘goodies’. Yeah right…..

First up we tried the fish lollipops. These were so sweet that you couldn’t taste that much fish. Which was definitely a good thing. They were very chewy.

Next up was the one and only nice thing – the wasabi flavoured seaweed wrapped crackers. These come with a double thumbs up.

The worst thing was this horrible bowl of noodles. I think I accidentally added the sachet of silicon which you aren’t meant to eat. That kinda freaked me out but Steve made me try them anyway. They were a slimy green mess of nastiness.

And Steve’s contribution to this gourmet lunch? A can of K cider. Considering I turned down free tickets to Reading (with free bar) as I’m ill, I’m not sure why I am sitting here drinking cider at 2 in the afternoon. Oh yeah, its coz it’s 8.4%.

Anyway, the soundtrack to today’s proceedings is awesome… go check out Charlie Wooley’s radio show and send him some requests. He’s playing Tyrannosaurus Rex, ‘Woodland Bop’ for me right now and yesterday we got Electric Wizard. Check it out here

Fixed mag issue 4 – LAUNCH! – The Beer Hunter

It’s that time again. Fixed 4 is back from the printers this weekend so there willl be  a little shinding to celebrate before everyone fucks off to Eurobike.

There’ll be a Treasurecat, drinking, tricks comp, drinking, sunbathing, drinking, footdown comps, drinking, prizes etc, etc…
From 4pm in London Fields. Meet by the Tennis Table thing. Come!

Its £3 to enter all the stuff they’ve got going on and any profits will go to the LCEF.

Hackney Drag Sprints 2nd Edition

Hackney Drags Sprint round two will be taking place this Friday. The exact location is TBC as the place we used last time has been swallowed up by the Olympic development. I came second to last at the previous one so will be seeing if I can bag the actual losers spot this time. I think the only person who was slower than me last time was a child. Hmm.

London’s fashionable London

I’ve just been kicking about in London this summer – I’m not taking a summer holiday because I’m saving for my West Coast roadtrip in October. But there has been loads of good stuff happening here anyway.

Saw Sylosis at the Underworld. They were proper good thrash and have an album out on Nuclear Blast. There weren’t shit loads of people at the show but still a lot of crowd surfing. One dude jumped off the stage and no one caught him so he slammed so hard into the floor. I saw him being carted off in an ambulance later.

Went to some warehouse thing and watched Alex Tucker play. I really like his stuff but it was really quiet and I couldnt hear what he was doing properly.

Josh cooked us all dinner. It was nice but we didnt eat till 1.30am by which time our appetites were waning……

I made these badboys. Didnt eat them though.

Went to see Pearl Jam at the O2. I’ve never really been that bothered about Pearl Jam but thought I might as well check em out for nowt. The sound was spot on and his voice was ace.

Went to the Beautiful Loser’s private view in Covent Garden where I spotted this nice pic of Nugget taken by Sam Ashley. I really like this photo and thought I’d like one until I realised it would be a bit wierd having a photo of Nugget on my wall………

And last night went party chasing last night with these guys. Gave up about 4am which felt really early. Jesus. I need to rejig my sleeping patterns. Now that I am ‘freelance’ which some cheeky gits have also termed ‘lazy/workshy’ I have been enjoying lie ins. Didn’t actually get out of bed on Wednesday till 4pm. Whoops.

Saturday Times Bike Style Pics

Marcus Ross has been shooting pics of London bike riders for a while now and some of his ‘London Bike Style’ pics were featured in the Saturday Times in an article about ‘it Bikes’.

Now I’m not really sure what an ‘it bike’ is myself plus I forgot to buy the bloody paper yesterday. Its up online already though so go check out the whole article here.

I Heart Wah last night

It is just ridiculous how much it rained last night. I skidded through my tyre on the way to the party and had to wheel my bike halfway accross London to a bike shop. Then the heavens opened and I sheltered in a doorway for an hour and a half waiting for it to ease up. It never did. So obviously the turnout for our party was not the ridiculous number that it was last month where you couldnt even move, let alone get to the bar.

But those that came know it rocked hard. We had the BBQ under a canopy and the portable soundsystem was ace. Love you guys for bringing that!Didnt get my nails done in the end so I’m gonna go get something baddass tomorrow at the salon. I’m thinking glossy black with spider’s webs, pentagrams and upside crosses on em. Mind you, they’d only be upsidedown from one direction….

I Heart party at The Macbeth

I haven’t written in a while as I’ve got hijacked by the party train and I couldn’t get off.
Went to Sonisphere at the weekend and crowd surfed in Metallica. Sophie had never done it before and was hyped! Saw Mastodon, Alice in Chains, Lamb of God…Awesomeness!

Kerrang Awards on Monday was fun, fun, fun and I was mainly to be seen staggering around clutching a giant bottle of vodka. Hee Hee.
Then a couple of bands I work with were in town so I’ve been at their shows each night and hanging out….

And that brings us to today, Thursday, and the party sure aint stopping now! Tonight is the party Posy and I throw at the Macbeth in Hoxton. This time we’ve teamed up with Wah who will be bringing their nail booth and doing free manicures. And DJing of course. Add to that a free BBQ on the roof with baddass tuneage from Radio Super Woofer and you’ve got a banger of an evening.
We are also the official after party for the Sup Mag do coz they don’t have a late license at the place they are throwing their party so they’re getting involved in ours. Bring it on!
