Anti-Sweden vs SUNN O))) Jean advert

Posted in Uncategorized on July 30, 2009 by juliojuliojulio

Have you ever wondered what a jeans advert would look like if SUNN O))) and Justin Bartlett were involved? No?

Well it would look like this! Amazing!

Printed in the pocket lining of this first edition line of Anti-Sweden jeans, you’ll find occult-inspired illustrations of american artist Justin Bartlett who is bloody ace, awesome and fantastic.

I designed some shirts for Boxfresh

Posted in Uncategorized on July 28, 2009 by juliojuliojulio

I designed a couple of shirts for  Boxfresh for their artist’s series kinda thingy. The first one, the Happy Happy Joy Joy is for spring/summer 2010 and the Abracadabra is for autumn/winter 2010. So they are not gonna be out for bloody ages which is a shame! Patience is not one of my virtues!

The Accused, Thorr’s Hammer & Corrupted

Posted in Uncategorized on July 27, 2009 by juliojuliojulio

I went to the Scala last night to see The Accused, Thorr’s Hammer and Corrupted.

The Accused were exactly what you’d expect. Which is good of course, but nothing suprising. Their new album is exactly like their old stuff; again good as you know what you’re getting but it’s more of the same really, eh? Like Motorhead – I fucking love Motorhead but everynow and then I feel like I could be listening to pretty much any of their albums so why do I keep buying the new ones? And why do they keep charging so much for the tickets?

Anyway….I’ve never seen Thorr’s Hammer before and they were awesome. Featuring Stephen O Malley and Greg from Sunn 0))) and with ace vocalist Runhild, they are proper good doom. My friend Redg summed up what is truly amazing about Runhild:

“Shes like a girl you see down at ‘All Bar One’, really blonde, sunbed tan, handbag etc necking baileys irish cream and then out come the voice and she sounds like a disturbed Gorilla.. So amazing..” She must have been barely able to speak after the show. Insane.

I was a bit disappointed with Corrupted. They had some great bits but  took too long to build in my opinion and lost my attention. I’d be standing there wondering whether to go for a smoke and thinking ‘I can’t go now, the big ass doomy bit must be about to kick in’  but then I’d go to the bathroom, have a fag and buy a pint and when I got back nothing would have happened at all. I think they only played one song. They weren’t doomy enough either. Hmm. Great on record though.

No Gears Bristol film night

Posted in Uncategorized on July 27, 2009 by juliojuliojulio

I just got an email from my buddy Redg who has organised a bike film night/BBQ/knees up in Bristol on the August Bank Holiday weekend. They’ll be showing Death Pedal and another film, playing Hardcore, larking about on bikes etc. I have been reliably informed that the BBQ will cater well for the vegetarians amongst us so do not fear! Get down there!

Lance Armstrong to ride ‘barbaric’ Damien Hirst bike

Posted in Uncategorized on July 24, 2009 by juliojuliojulio

Animal rights activists are up in arms about a new artwork/bike created by Damien Hirst for Lance Armstrong. The bike is covered in real butterfly wings which Hirst (or one of his lackeys I imagine) ‘painstakingly removed’.

Lance is meant to be riding the bike for the final stage of the Tour De France.

Nike/Livestrong ride

Posted in Uncategorized on July 23, 2009 by juliojuliojulio

Nike recently asked a bunch of riders including Superted and Kyle from DQM to choose colourways for a Nike Air Zoom Tiempo Cycling Sneaker. All the profits from the shoe will go to the Livestrong Foundation.

Kyle and Hassan flew into London on Tuesday and today set off with Ted, Andy, Grace and others to ride to Paris for the finish of the Tour de France. They’re gonna take a couple of days to get there and are planning on camping en route then partying in Paris when they arrive. Check the Fixed Gear London blog for updates! Grace will be filming all the action.

Oh, oh, oh! I really want to see this! The Antichrist by Lars Von Trier with Charlotte Gainsbourg and Willem Dafoe. Sounds mental.

Ted’s face/Brick to Brixton/Charge Bucket

Posted in Uncategorized on July 20, 2009 by juliojuliojulio

Ted turned up on Saturday with nine stitches in his face! Riding his BMX the night before, he’d hopped onto a pavement then was weaving back and forth in the same spot waiting for someone when he totally ate shit and ground his face into the pavement. He left half his eyebrow on the floor and had to be sewn up in the middle of the night. Oh dear.

We had a few drinks in London Fields (for a change…!) then went over Steve’s for an inpromtu jam session. I came up with some riffs I liked but I’ve now forgotten the. Dur….

After that we hooked up with Nina and went to a house party. Georgie wasn’t allowed in so we sat on the street like bums.

On Sunday I went and checked out the BMX point to point race. I rode a BMX for the first time on Saturday and LOVED it but anyway, I thought for some reason that you couldn’t go that fast on them. WRONG. I couldn’t catch up with anyone of them once the race had started.

The race finished up at the skatepark in Brixton. I had a roll around on Taliban Tom’s bike but it felt pretty twitchy compared to the one I rode on Saturday and I was pretty hungover too. And there were a lot of people there too and I kinda got that skatepark shyness thing. Gotta go back and ride there again.

Emily turned up with a lovebite on her neck! hahaha!

We decided to go to the fair.

RIMG0091and went on the best ride ever! Should have been for three quid though!

Emily and I loved it though and couldn’t stop grinning! non stop fun!

And I put my new Charge Bucket saddle on. They’re made on the old Turbo last (like the Grunge saddles) and look so good! Can’t believe they’re only gonna be £16.99 when they come out at the beginning of October!
