New Charge Video up

Posted in Uncategorized on May 29, 2009 by juliojuliojulio

Georgi Banks-Davies and I went out a few weeks ago and made a little film. It was fun razzing about town for a couple of hours on a bank holiday as the streets were eerily quiet. We only got stopped by the police once when they took umbridge at Georgis mate riding the moped backwards in order to get a shot. We made sure we smiled a lot and somehow got away with that one.

Georgi shot something like 6000 photos and then painstakingly edited them together to make this video.

Check it here, or head over the Charge Bikes’ Vimeo channel here where you can watch all the recent videos.

Download Fixed Mag Issue 3

Posted in Uncategorized on May 20, 2009 by juliojuliojulio

Fixed Magazine is now available for download here. Obviously the real version is much nicer, what with it being on such good paper but if you really can’t get down to Shop 14 or Cavendish Cycles, then you can download all 92 pages as a PDF.

We went riding on the roof yesterday and it was such nice weather. I stuck some of Greg Falski’s  pics here on my Charge Blog.

Poppy came along on her new bike which looked amazing! Superted built the frame, and Odge FGL made the straps. It looks so nice. Apparently Poppy got up out of bed in the middle of the night the other day just because she wanted another look at it, she likes it that much! Cool, huh?

Fred came down and took some pics too. He’d recently got tattooed and said he felt slightly gutted when he saw an article about Pentabike in the new issue of Fixed Mag. I don’t know why. Maybe because he thought it was unique to him or he had discovered something new, but nothing is new these days anyway really. Ah well, at least it’s not there for ever or anything…….

Booze not Bikes

Posted in Uncategorized on May 18, 2009 by juliojuliojulio

I started the weekend with the intention of doing lots of bike things. There was meant to be a race on Friday night but it absolutely pissed it down.  I stood around outside the Foundry getting soaked drinking cans and waiting to see what the plan was as I was meant to be helping at the checkpoint.  In the end the race was cancelled after only three nutters signed up so we went inside and got our drink on.

On Saturday I was meant to take the Vivalo to the track but I had to blow that out as I was gonna ride to Brighton with the Fixed Gear London boys. But then I had to blow that out too as I got in later on Saturday morning than they set off and slept until 5pm.

Saturday evening looked a bit like this:

hellfest

By far the best thing that happened this weekend was that we all decided to go to Hellfest in France. The lineup is insane! Eyehategod, Kylesa, Electric Wizard, Cro-Mags, Amebix, Suicidal Tendencies…. aaaaaaaaaargh!!!!!

This is baddass!

I love this Mishka shirt by Arik Roper, the man behind all High On Fire’s artwork as well as the cover of Sleep’s ‘Dopesmoker’.  How cool is that? Apparently, Roper’s middle name is Moonhawk; now that would explain a lot. I think they sell Mishka in a shop in the Truman Brewery but I’m not sure which one. I’d better investigate.

Sleep At ATP

Posted in Uncategorized on May 13, 2009 by juliojuliojulio

This weekend I went down to All Tomorrow’s Parties at Butlins in Minehead. Butlins is a very strange place indeed – apparently it was used for soldiers or something during the war and then some entrepreneur turned it and the other ones around the country into holiday camps. I have to say that if I ever had the misfortune of going on holiday to one of these places I would probably drink bleach. However, ATP was AMAZING!

I missed Electric Wizard on Friday night because of work comittments and I was frankly gutted. Every time I am meant to see them, my plans are thrwarted. But all was made up for by the almighty Sleep who played Saturday AND Sunday night. And I watched them from the side of the stage on Sunday when I sat with my girlfriends and floated off into a dream. Man, they were sooooo good. I love their hypnotic and repetive riffs that build into crushingly brutal heaviness. Ooh yeah. Now I can’t listen to anything except ‘Holy Mountain’; its become a mania. My boss thinks it’s absolute rubbish.

When I got back these stupid shoes had turned up. I did a shoot with Valerie Phillips a while back and got free Nike ID shoes as payment. I thought I might as well fucking going for it and make something super stupid and this is the result. They’re kind of amazing but I can’t wear them as I feel like a complete dickhead… I usually wear the most non-descript Vans imaginable. They are far, far brighter than they look in this picture.

Fixed Fun/Black Metal Hell Yeah shirt

Posted in Uncategorized on May 7, 2009 by juliojuliojulio

I just got these killer new Hell Yeah shirts back from the printers. I recently comissioned some illustrators whose work I admire and I can’t wait to see the results! This design comes courtesy of Mark Skulls.  Head over to the shop if you’d like one, where I also have a couple of girls ones… which I randomly did in pink for some reason.
